Art Nouveau, especially the Vienna Secession style, are combined with a baroque love of ornamentation: Foliage, cords, tassels, wreaths, lyres represent a panopticon of European ornamentation. The oval shade has the ideal characteristics for a ceiling light: When directed downwards, it illuminates the widest possible area all around. The brass frame's bronze finish creates multi-faceted light reflections. A bedroom with low or suspended ceiling is ideal for this light.
